Sept 1 - The Transporter Bridge

We got to walk across the top of the 100+ year old Newport Transporter Bridge. That was darn cool. A marvel of civil engineering that James had never heard of.

We spent a few hours in an RSPB reserve. Amazing how the habitat is different when it's managed for birds and nature instead of various human economic values.

We also walked by the West Usk Lighthouse. To those who know his work, this must be a site in an Edward Gorey book where something dreadful happened to a small child. It is currently a B&B where the sign advertises "therapies" with no further explanation.

95% grey, no rain, low 70's, comfortable breeze. Amy's rather fond of 56-65, and 70 is starting to feel too balmy.

Amy is happy and healthy.  James is coughing and a bit under the weather. He's not whining, but he's not happy about it. He's putting another round of Gorilla Glue on his deteriorating boots.

We're camped on the levee, separated from the rising tide by a concrete sea wall.

That bridge is very cool! I never knew there was such a thing. Is it still in use?
