Apt 11 - we met Brian

We met Bryan from upstate NY. He started in a Tokyo and will finish his thru-hike in a few days in Osaka. He's only met one other party hiking - a young British couple walking toward Tokyo who are a week or so ahead of us. He doesn't have great mapping tools and a good track, so he's frustrated by the amount of time he's spent trying to stay on route. 

We, on the other hand, have great tools and a descent GPX track to work with and so far everything on the navigation front is AOK. 

We're happy and healthy and snug in the tent on a warm drizzly night, at the secluded end of a town park. 

Breakfast at Family Mart convenience store - chicken skewers, steamed pork bun, donut, eclair, rice ball!

Up to 18 new bird species and subspecies.
