All gray all day until a few sunny patches after dinner. Started raining in the night last night and we had non-stop light to moderate rain until mid-afternoon. We have 3 more days for walking, and there's clouds and rain in the forecas every day. We had daily rain on our first ~10 days. Then we had 4 weeks of dry, mostly sunny weather with high temps of 60 - an unbelievable streak of good fortune.
We passed through Nantes mid-day and completed our intended loop. We felt like we should celebrate with bells and whistles, but the gray skies and rain didn't inspire dancing in the streets.
We are now walking up the Loire River, so far on easy bike path. It's lush and verdant. The birds were singing nonstop on day 1, and has continued straight through until past sunset on day 39. The continuous song is a delight, and a highlight of the trip.
We are happy and healthy and camped in a little, level town park with nicely mowed grass, near to the railroad tracks where a high speed train zooms by.
