We had planned to go to Cherokee to buy groceries, but Marmie said Bryson City is not a tourist trap and would be a better choice. Good advice as Bryson was a nice little town that seems to be making a go of it.
Got an instant ride to town with a local couple who were out for a day hike. They said Ingals is the best grocery story and took us there. YEAH! A huge chunk of freshly roasted pork tenderloin and several deli salads, a pint of Ben and Jerrys, and a great selection of groceries. We were happy campers.
Then stopped at the brand new Outdoor Store, and had a nice long chat with one of the proprietors, who was very friendly and knowledgeable. He kindly gave us a lift back to the trailhead. He hopes to hike the PCT next year, and if he does I told him my good brother Steve would likely help him at Ebbett's Pass.
Splendid weather today. Forecast for tomorrow not so great.
We are healthy and happy. Camped at GSMNP backcountry camp #64.
