Sep 28 - nice scenery

More perfect weather today. And more easy walking, although we had to put our vivobarefoot rubber shoes on half a dozen times to wade through seasonally inundated stretches of trail. Just a few inches deep, easy.

The other night at a shelter with John and Sharon we saw an extraordinarily cute small marsupial with a baby in the pouch. It came out at sunset and was feeding quietly right next to the picnic table. Today we met hiker Jess, a mammalian biologist, who told us it was a Quokka.

We are camped at our first really fine site. On the trail, next to some exposed granite that allowed a fine view of the sunset.  Full moon last night, just rising now as I type.

In this national park:

The scenery has gotten more varied and interesting since we left Nuclear orthcliffe.

The Boobook is calling right now. A common owl that we have heard many times but frustratingly have not yet seen. Unlike owls at home, this one ignores us when we play its call.

We are still very happy and healthy and looking forward to about ten more days of Bibb walking, all of it on or near the coast.
