Camped at 697.6
Stealth camp in GCNP. First stealth of the trip, since BLM and USFS allow camping anywhere along the trail, but NPS does not. We couldn't face the idea of camping with the hordes and their yippy dogs inside the official campground, so we're tucked out of site. Set up after dark, break before sunrise, no lights, fires, noises - i.e. standard stealth procedures.
Another great weather day with easy walking. Primarily P Pine forest again with little elevation change.
The extra nice store manager at Tusayan General Store went way beyond the call of duty to rescue our package from the Post Office at Grand Canyon Village. Even with the proper address label and very clear instructions written on all six sides of the box the P.O. managed to screw it up and hold the box there instead of delivering it to the store. Enormous gratitude to Jeremy for sorting it out and leaving work to drive 30 minutes RT to get our package - over the top kindness to a pair of stinky strangers. Thank goodness we didn't arrive on a weekend or our package would be history.
Alarm set for 3:30 am with high hopes of reaching the rim before sunrise. Then we cross the Big Ditch.
Happy and healthy and tipsy after drinking a tall can of 8% Mike's Cranberry Lemonade. Yippee.
