Aug 22 - grey and too much farmland trail

Overcast all day. Sometimes damp mist. Rain started at about 7pm and it's a' pitter patter on the tent as I type. Not windy NOW, and only mildly breezy during the day.

We spent only an hour in view of the sea. The farms here are more attractive than Iowa, maybe comparable to the scenic value of Wisconsin farmland. But it gets dull pretty quickly and is never exhilarating like the coast nearly always is. We think we have a few more days of primarily farms before we get back to proper coast. And dairy cows poop like fire hoses and make a monster mess near the gates between fields. Sheep make better field companions, but we're in dairy country now.

We're happy and healthy excepting that James has more back strain pain than yesterday which makes life less fun. We're camped in a low-key quiet farm campsite and thoroughly enjoyed the hot showers.
