Low 45. High 55. No rain or wind. Perfect hiking weather. No wet feet or slushy-mushy fields or farm roads.
On the approach to Aviles we stopped at a "working man's" bar, where guys starting or finishing shifts were having their morning coffee and poncho. It was busy, unpretentious, and friendly, with a good selection of breakfast sandwiches.
We circumvented the big industrial zone on the east side of Aviles. Then entered the city via a riverside promenade leading to a large museum/cultural center designed by Oscar Niemeyer, and an extremely cool footbridge connecting it to the city. It was beautiful and interesting, but impossible to photograph.
The city was bustling and alive, and we had Poke Bowl lunch, which was a nice change of pace.
After leaving Aviles we passed through the adjacent suburban Salina's, and then passed a very small industrial zone shown in the photo.
It took a few hours to find a good campsite, but we are now settled into a soft, flat, level site in a young eucalyptus plantation, remarkably free of blackberry. The sea is a soft gentle roar away, not roaring surf sounds like last nights site on the beach.
We are happy and healthy and glad the fair weather has returned.
