Aug 22 - another day another moor

Good town stop at Bellingham. Shop at Coop. Good brunch omelette at the Rocky Road Cafe. Very entertaining proprietor at the butcher shop where we got takeaway roast beef sandwiches for dinner; the sandwiches were pathetic :(

Many miles of soggy wet-feet moors with nice rolling Heather covered hills, no other people, and no possibility of campsites since the ground is made of wet spongy peat. Weather just like yesterday - mostly cloudy, bursts of sun, a few shorts spatters of rain, a rainbow.

Finished the day in a large tree plantation, where we are camped on the solid ground of a gravel pad that was certainly installed for logging operations. The forests themselves are made of peat and water in a completely uncampable configuration. The forest did produce some Red Crossbills, the first of the trip.

We are happy and healthy and looking forward to reaching the northern terminus of the Pennine Way in 31 miles.

Oh, that's what the moors look like covered by Heather. No amber fields, but I like the purple!
