April 2 - rain all day

The climate data for Nantes said 25% of days at this time of the year have measurable rain. Today was day seven of hiking and our seventh day with rain. It
was the first day with steady rain, starting at about 10 AM and is still raining at 8:30 PM. Light rain and mild wind, so with rain pants, raincoat and umbrellas we stayed dry. The fields are all flooded and the river is running high, and we suspect that they had a very wet March. The temperature has been between 50 and 58 since we arrived, day and night; perfect for hiking.

Given the steady rain, we were lucky to eat our lunch at a table under a shelter, and our dinner inside a very clever camping pod shown in the photo. Behind the table are two doors to a little locked sleeping platform. We were happy to have the dry picnic table.

We had a perfect stop in Rohan village on the route. We bought a couple of meals at the small grocery store, then had coffee and tea at the local bar, and then shared three pastries at the bakery. Most bakeries don't have tables, but this one had a few tables and a terrific collection of locals, primarily older ladies but also a middle aged gay gentleman and his very well behaved coiffed tiny dog.

The bars in France frequently serve as the local coffee shop, opening early in the morning to serve coffee and croissants. They have a much different vibe than bars in the US.

We are happy and healthy and snuggly dry in our little tent, camping next to a lock again.
